Biography

Dr I-Ferne Tan is driven to develop and pursue innovative treatment options for her gynaecological and infertility patients. Dr I-Ferne enjoys treating all aspects of women’s reproductive health, with a particular passion for period disorders, pelvic pain, abnormal bleeding, and issues with getting pregnant. Dr I-Ferne delivers the highest quality care by guiding her patients through understanding their diagnosis and their treatment options.

Experience & Qualifications

Dr I-Ferne joined the Genea Fertility Specialist team in January 2022 and is also a Staff Specialist at Royal North Shore Hospital, Sydney.

Dr I-Ferne completed a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) at Monash University in Melbourne, before going on to achieve a Master of Reproductive Medicine at the University of New South Wales. In 2018, Dr I-Ferne was accepted as a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. Dr I-Ferne subsequently sought out international experience and completed a Fellowship of Minimally Invasive Surgery at the National University Hospital in Singapore. 

Minimally Invasive Surgery is a keen interest for Dr I-Ferne who has dedicated significant time and undertaken additional training to develop broader treatment options for her patients to ensure better outcomes for her patients including minimal scarring, minimal pain and minimal recovery time.

Additional Information

Dr I-Ferne is a current member of the Australian Gynaecological Endoscopy Society and the Society of Endometriosis and Uterine Disorders. Guiding and teaching the next generation of doctors is important to Dr I-Ferne. She mentors gynaecology trainees at Royal North Shore Hospital and is employed as an Honorary Lecturer for Macquarie University Medical School. In her spare time, Dr I-Ferne enjoys teaching her two daughters how to bake the perfect chocolate chip cookie.
