Dr Simon Winder believes that women and couples dealing with infertility issues deserve to be given the time to be heard and to have their questions answered without being rushed. He believes it is essential that his patients receive open and honest advice, that their wishes are respected and treatment decisions are reached as a team. Simon is also an Obstetrician with a specific interest in complex medical cases in pregnancy so can provide continuity of care for his patients from conception through to birth.
Simon graduated from the University of NSW in 1996 with a Medical Degree BSc(Med) MBBS. He has a fellowship from the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as a Master of Reproductive Medicine and a Master of Women's Health Medicine. Due to a special interest in genetic conditions, Simon is currently completing a Master in Genetics and Diagnostic Genomics.
Over the past 20 years Simon has worked predominantly in Obstetrics and Gynaecology with additional extensive experience in the area of Accident and Emergency Medicine. He also serves as a Defence Force Reservist and was twice the senior medical officer on deployments overseas (Iraq and Afghanistan).
Simon operates at Wollongong Private Hospital and Wollongong Day Surgery.
Simon has two adult sons and a teenager daughter. He has a special interest in flying and is currently completing an aerobatic rating. He also enjoys diving, history, science and music. He is a member of the following organisations: Fertility Society of Australasia, Human Genetics Society Australasia, Society of Obstetric Medicine of Australia and New Zealand, Australasian Society of Aerospace Medicine and the South Pacific Underwater Medicine Society.
